Valve drops Steam Controller CAD files under CC non-commercial license

Valve has published CAD files for its newly shipping Steam Controller and Puck, including .STP and .STL exports of the external shell plus engineering diagrams that flag the no-cover zones required to preserve signal integrity. The release targets modders building skins, grips, charging stands, and phone mounts rather than commercial accessory makers.

The license is Creative Commons with non-commercial use, attribution, and share-alike terms; vendors wanting to ship paid accessories are directed to contact Valve for separate licensing. The move follows Valve’s prior CAD drops for the Steam Deck, Valve Index, and original Steam Controller, continuing a consistent pattern of opening hardware geometry while keeping the commercial channel gated.
