Teenage Engineering APC-2: A Real-Time Vinyl Cutter for Studios

Teenage Engineering has unveiled the APC-2, a professional disc-cutting lathe built in partnership with analog media specialist SUPERSENSE. The machine produces playable records in real time, aimed at musicians and producers who want their work pressed onto physical vinyl without the industrial pipeline of traditional pressing plants.

The hardware leans on tight mechanical tolerances: a direct-drive motor with a polished tungsten shaft, wow and flutter under 0.01% WRMS, and a 1.5 ppm reference clock. A stereo feedback cutting head, variable pitch control, temperature-regulated heating, and integrated vacuum hold-down and swarf removal handle the cut itself. DAW automation enables locked grooves and other specialty cuts, with remote control over Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

Weighing 140 kg and built from powder-coated aluminum and granite, the APC-2 is being produced in a limited run and sold exclusively through SUPERSENSE.
