Sonic Pi: Free Live-Coding Environment Turns Code Into Music

Sonic Pi is a free tool that lets people compose and perform music by writing code, aiming to sit comfortably between two audiences: working musicians and DJs who want expressive live-performance capabilities, and educators teaching either computing or music. It supports a wide stylistic range, from classical and jazz to hip hop and EDM, and ships with a beginner-friendly tutorial to lower the barrier to entry.

A notable design priority is accessibility.
