ISS crew shelters in spacecraft as cosmonauts patch fresh Zvezda module leaks

Five crew members aboard the International Space Station were ordered into an elevated safety posture and took shelter in their docked spacecraft while two Russian cosmonauts worked on new air leaks in the Zvezda service module’s transfer tunnel. Roscosmos reported that two leaks were identified and one was already sealed, with no immediate danger to the crew or station systems.

Repair work was paused so engineers could review measurements and telemetry, at which point the astronauts were cleared to return to the station. NASA acknowledged the Russian segment has been dealing with cracks and slow leaks for an extended period, making this the latest episode in a recurring structural issue on the aging orbital outpost rather than a one-off incident.
