Edge Regression Breaks Right-Click Paste in Teams Desktop Chats

A recent Microsoft Edge update shipped a code regression that disables the right-click Paste option in Microsoft Teams desktop chats. Because Teams relies on Edge for parts of its rendering and input stack, the broken context-menu handler propagates directly into the Teams client — URLs, text, and images all show a greyed-out Paste entry regardless of clipboard contents. Cache clears and Teams reinstalls do not restore functionality, confirming the fault is in the shared Edge component, not Teams state.

Keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+V on Windows, Cmd+V on macOS) still work, which Microsoft is offering as the interim workaround. Reports from admins on Reddit and the Microsoft forums show the regression hitting both corporate tenants and individual users on current builds such as 26072.519.4556.7438.

Microsoft acknowledged the issue in an April 14 advisory and says a staged fix is rolling out with telemetry monitoring recovery, but as of April 16 there is no committed timeline for full remediation. The incident is another reminder that Teams inherits the blast radius of every Edge/WebView2 update pushed to endpoints.
