DaVinci Resolve Adds Dedicated Photo Editing Page with Hollywood Color Tools

Blackmagic Design is expanding DaVinci Resolve beyond video post-production with a new Photo page that brings its professional color grading toolset to still photography. The feature includes native RAW support for major camera brands (Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Sony, iPhone ProRAW), processing at source resolution up to 400+ megapixels, and the full node-based color pipeline that film colorists already use - curves, qualifiers, Power Windows, and hardware panel support.

The Photo page bundles library management (albums, tags, ratings, AI-powered search), tethered shooting from Sony and Canon cameras, and over 100 GPU-accelerated effects including AI-driven tools like Magic Mask for subject isolation, depth mapping, face refinement, AI Super Scale upscaling, and a Film Look Creator for replicating analog film characteristics. All edits are non-destructive.

Blackmagic is also leveraging its cloud collaboration infrastructure, letting photographers, colorists, and retouchers share albums and grades in real time - including remote live grading during fashion shoots. The play here is clear: pull photographers into the Resolve ecosystem by offering tools that outclass traditional layer-based photo editors, while giving existing video colorists a reason to take on still work without switching applications.
